Crime Prevention Open House and BBQ

The Smoky Lake RCMP are pleased to announce our annual open house BBQ at the Smoky Lake Detachment, held on Wednesday May 18th, 2016, 10 am-2pm, during Crime Prevention Week. We have held this event for several years and each year has been bigger then the last, with hundreds of citizens and students attending to meet our members and get a glimpse of what we do in the course of our careers.

During this event, we are assisted by Smoky Lake County Rural Crime Watch, Redwater-Smoky Lake Victim Services, and Vilna C.O.P., three of our partner organizations that contribute to the collective goal of crime prevention in and around Smoky Lake County. We have secured the use of an RCMP tipi, as we wish to recognize our local First Nations and Metis citizens of our County. Other specialized RCMP units, such as Police Dog Services and Air Services (helicopter) are expected to attend but plans may change due to the deployment to recent events in the Fort McMurray area.

Smoky Lake RCMP wish to also thank Smoky Lake County for sponsoring this event as well as our policing partners, allowing us to provide all food free of charge to the public. Please stop by and join us for burgers, hot dogs, cake and coffee! We will have door prizes for children and adults as well.

The Smoky Lake RCMP wishes to thank the public for their support and invite everyone to join us to celebrate Crime Prevention Week 2016!
